Amsterdam in August

The Dutch capital is a popular destination to visit all year round; in winter, the frozen canals create a fairytale atmosphere, in spring everything has the scent of blooming tulips and in summer the outdoor bars and many cultural events make you want not to leave it anymore. Some of the most interesting events of August are: the Hortus Festival, a series of classical music concerts in the frame of the botanical garden, the Grachtenfestival, with many musical proposals in museums, public buildings, open spaces and overlooking the channels, and De Parade, theater performances hosted in circus tents in Martin Luther King Park.

Other ideas? Spend some time on one of the many urban beaches set up on the canals, where you can drink something, play sports or relax listening to good music, take an evening cruise to enjoy the sunset or watch a movie under the stars in one of outdoor cinemas. If you are still energetic, you can always take a trip out of the city, perhaps by bike to enjoy the magical landscapes of Holland.

The best neighborhoods to sleep in Amsterdam are: the museum area, Jordann and De Pijp, east and north.
